Initial Steps for Getting a Startup Weekend in [Your City]

1. Contact Startup Weekend and get the city added to city vote for initial interest

2. If you are the lead organizer, find a location and a date that will work for the event.

3. Contact Startup Weekend and they will set up registration, subdomain, and supporting materials.

4. Begin promoting the event, finding sponsors, and making sure that everything will be in place for the weekend.

5  Lock down who will be coming to facilitate or who there will be the lead facilitator

6. Make sure that before the event you have:

• food & drink
• snacks
• schwag
• wifi
• powerstrips
• extension cords
• tables
• chairs
• access to location
• posters and sponsor material
• clever tagline

5. Launch and have a great time.

What is Startup Weekend?

Startup Weekend is an intense 54 hour event bringing brilliant minds (developers, designers, marketers, accountants, lawyers, etc.) together to create a company (or as many as companies as the participants decide) from concept to launch!  Interactivity and forging positive, value-added relationships is the core philosophy of a Startup Weekend.  Each Startup Weekend is organized by people from the local communities and sponsored by companies like yours.  Startup Weekend, LLC provides guidance, structure and an advisor for each startup Weekend, but the success of your weekend relies on your local community’s support.
